David Cohen and I started a rock band back in Seventh Grade. All of our equipment came from my Mom's father's (Abe) collection of World War II army surplus. Dad named us and designed our logo. On the day of the Middle School talent show we performed as the first act, and the kid whose father owned the instrument store played last, on about a million dollars worth of giant amps. We did a very pokey Midnight Hour. The covered Jimi Hendrix's Fire, fronted by a guy in tight leather pants who was probably in his second or third try at eighth grade. They were incredible. We were awful, and mortified after our warm up before the sixth grade that our friends were going to see us humiliated. Fortunately, our "roadie", Pat Dolan, tripped over the power line of one of our ancient amps causing a melt down in the circuit box, thrusting the entire school into a blackout. They had to send everyone home, and we were saved!
